Very small church, not easy to find in a small, deserted village with no sign. Worth a visit if you're in the area. English Heritage Members go free otherwise there's a small fee to pay!
On the outside looks nothing, but inside quite nice and informative
Open Sunday's and bank holiday Monday, this a good place to get a look at Barton's past. Displays tell of the changes of the church and it's buried resident's through wealth and diseaseStaff are on hand to help with any questions and there are toilet facilities on site. Some interactive displays for the kids too. Worth doing alongside Thornton Abbey
Absolutely fascinating church with much of the original Saxon architecture still in place. Up to 3000 graves had been excavated on this site providing much information on the local community over a 1000 year period.
A great English heritage site, we were recommended it as there was a bone exhibition on. The lady at Thornton abbey told us about it. We had a fabulous time learn about the effects of different diseases on bones. It's a lovely open space and very interesting architecturally. Although dogs aren't allowed inside my two enjoyed exploring the grounds.
